The Ibis Oso HD is the most capable model in the Oso family and is designed for riders who expect maximum confidence on demanding descents, stability at high speed, and enough power to repeat climbs without relying on a shuttle. With 180 mm of front travel and 165 mm of rear travel, the Oso HD is ready for fast, technical, and rough terrain, where its long geometry, capable suspension, and well-balanced weight distribution truly come into play. The modular dropout system allows the rider to adjust the rear-center length and rear wheel size configuration. Sizes SM and MD come standard with a 440 mm rear-center setup for a 27.5-inch rear wheel, while size XM comes with a 455 mm rear-center. Sizes LG and XL are designed around a 29-inch rear wheel and come with a 455 mm rear-center. Additional dropout options provide even more setup freedom, allowing riders to fine-tune the chainstay length and rear wheel configuration according to their riding style. Powerful and natural support is provided by the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen5 drive unit. The motor delivers quiet operation, strong torque transfer, and a very natural pedal-assist feel, even on steep and technically demanding climbs. The Bosch Gen5 system provides up to 120 Nm of torque and up to 600% support, allowing the Oso HD to tackle climbs that would often require a shuttle or lift on a traditional enduro bike. The system is complemented by the Bosch Kiox 400c display/controller, which comes as standard equipment. It is integrated into the top tube of the frame and provides a clear user interface with key ride data, battery status, and system information. The integration is clean, protected, and designed to stay out of the way while riding, while still allowing easy control of the bike. The battery system combines a 600 Wh internal battery with the option of adding a Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh range extender. This allows for a total capacity of up to 850 Wh, giving riders the flexibility to adapt the bike to different types of rides. For shorter and more aggressive rides, the bike remains lighter and more responsive, while for longer full-day adventures, the range extender can be added. The battery is positioned low and centrally in the frame, improving balance, stability, and handling on demanding terrain. The Oso HD uses Ibis’s proven DW-Link suspension, designed by Dave Weagle. The system is known for excellent traction, efficient pedaling, and active suspension performance on rough terrain. On climbs, it helps maintain power transfer and stability, while on descents it provides outstanding control, deep traction, and a confident feel at higher speeds, through repeated impacts, and on technically demanding lines. The frame is made from carbon fiber and uses size-specific geometry. This means that the geometry, chainstay length, bottom bracket height, and suspension kinematics are adapted to each frame size. The result is a balanced ride feel across the full size range, from SM to XL, including the XM size, which fills the gap between the most common rider heights. The Oso HD is optimized around a 180 mm fork and is intended for riders looking for a more aggressive, descent-oriented e-MTB. Its slack geometry, long-travel suspension, and stable frame design provide a high level of confidence on fast alpine descents, bike park lines, natural technical trails, and demanding enduro rides. The uninterrupted seat tube design allows for deep insertion of the dropper seatpost, making it possible to use long-travel dropper posts across the entire size range. The frame also offers plenty of tire clearance and is compatible with most 2.5-inch tires, further highlighting its gravity and enduro-focused character. The Oso HD is equipped with robust protection for the frame, motor, and downtube, which is especially important on an electric bike built for demanding use. The frame supports a 55 mm chainline, a 200 mm rear brake mount with the option to run up to a 220 mm rotor, and chainrings from 32 to 36 teeth. Like all Ibis frames, the Oso HD comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame and bushings. Bosch components are covered by a two-year warranty. If the issue is on the manufacturer’s side, they take care of it — simple and hassle-free.
