About the Blue Smart IP22 Charger The IP22 is a fan-cooled aluminum charger designed for workshops, garages, equipment rooms, and any installation protected from weather and direct water exposure. The AC side ships with a 1.8 m (6 ft) cord and NEMA 5-15 plug. The DC side uses screw terminals rated for up to AWG 6 (16mm²) wire. No DC cables are included, so you supply your own wire cut to the length your installation needs. This makes the IP22 well suited for both permanent installations and bench use where you may swap connections between batteries regularly. Bluetooth and VictronConnect The IP22 has built-in Bluetooth that connects directly to the VictronConnect app on your phone, tablet, or laptop. The app displays real-time charge voltage, current, and charge stage, and gives you access to all charger settings without opening an enclosure or touching the unit. You can select charge presets, build custom profiles, enable or disable recondition mode, switch between Normal/Night/Low modes, view the 40-cycle charge history log, and update firmware as Victron releases it. Everything happens over Bluetooth with no cables or adapters needed between you and the charger. Fully Programmable Charge Algorithm Three preset charge modes cover the most common battery types. Normal mode (14.4V absorption) is for flooded lead-antimony, gel, and AGM batteries. High mode (14.7V) targets lead-calcium, Optima, and Odyssey batteries. LiFePO4 mode (14.2V) uses a simplified bulk-absorption-float algorithm. Beyond the presets, VictronConnect's Expert mode opens up nearly every parameter: absorption, float, and storage voltages, recondition settings, temperature compensation values, and charge time limits. You can build and save custom profiles for any battery chemistry you work with. VE.Smart Networking The IP22 supports VE.Smart Networking, Victron's Bluetooth-based device-to-device communication. Up to 10 IP22 chargers can synchronize on a VE.Smart Network, charging a single battery bank as one coordinated system. All units transition between charge stages simultaneously. You can also add a Smart Battery Sense or SmartShunt to the network for real-time battery voltage and temperature compensation, which adjusts charge voltage based on conditions at the battery rather than at the charger terminals. VE.Smart Networking is available on units with serial number HQ2024 and later. Night and Low Current Modes Night mode reduces output to 50% of rated current and eliminates fan noise entirely. It automatically reverts to normal mode after 8 hours. Low mode does the same but stays active until you manually switch back. Both modes are useful for charging in living spaces, bedrooms, or anywhere fan noise would be a problem. Power Supply Mode The IP22 can operate as a regulated DC power supply without a battery connected, directly powering DC loads from AC input.
